I've got a trip to Lake Charles coming up and noticed Hackberry hotel was a choice on my booking software. I don't have time for a charter but I might bring my rod and goof off evenings or early morning. Is this possible? I hear this is a cool place. Thanks yall.

Yep, they take pleasure in scratching your legs up, so you only climb one.

All due respect but I have no idea what you are saying.

He’s funin ya about climbing a hackberry tree.
Hackberry Hotel is clean and safe, heard the bar can get rowdy.
What days will you be there?
Traffic can be brutal between 6-8 mornings and 5-6:30 evenings so plan accordingly.

110-4 thanks. I will be driving into LC around 6a to the junction of 10 and 210, then back out around 3 or 4. Looks like 30 minutes normally, should I plan for an hour?

West Lake?
You should be fine at that time if the day, 3-4 I would avoid maplewood dr and the school. How long will you be in town? Can’t see original post, might have said already.
You can dock fish @ blue crab, hog island & west cove, make sure you sign a Sabine permit (they’re in the box).

Kids climbed trees in the olden days. As sure as they check their phone today for the weather. And with Hackberry's you needed a good reason.

quote:

Celtis occidentalis Celtis occidentalis, commonly known as the common hackberry, is a large deciduous tree native to North America. It is also known as the nettletree, beaverwood, northern hackberry, and American hackberry. It is a moderately long-lived hardwood with a light-colored wood, yellowish gray to light brown with yellow streaks. The common hackberry is easily distinguished from elms and some other hackberries by its cork-like bark with wart-like protuberances. Wikipedia

Haven't stayed there but plenty of bank fishing around, and if wind and surf is right, should be about time for beach fishing.

As said, traffic gets brutal there now. One way in and out. Other option would be air b&b stuff near Heberts to get in and out of lake charles easier.

I miss those days. Loved climbing trees. My son is too little but he will darn sure climb trees when he can. My neighbor's son is a nice kid but they can't get him unglued from the game screen and its sad. Although recently he started to get interested in fishing so maybe he is "fixed". ha!
