Grand Isle fishing reports

Headed to Grand Isle for the weekend to mainly to relax, but also wondering if it’s worth bringing the fishing gear at all because I would like to get a little fishing in. Is there fish still being caught off the side of the road or do I need to bring my boat to have any type of chance? Thanks OB.

Never go to Grand Isle without at least a rod, basic tackle and a minnow bucket. You may not set the world on fire but there's always a chance for a stray redfish from the side of the road.

Last weekend the weather was beautiful, with calm conditions. I did not fish, but there were a lot of boats running around. Almost looked like summer in the bay. I saw a report on the Louisiana Fishing Blog of a bunch of sheephead being caught, probably around the rocks behind the island, on live shrimp. Coastal Bait had live shrimp, but you had to get them early. Good luck, the odds of two weekends in a row of calm conditions on Grand Isle at this time of the year are pretty slim.

If there's heads there's reds.

I would imagine the jetties would hold something. Vidrine fishes them year round and catches big trout
