If you are in Larto proper, I'd stay on the Fischer Lake end and pitch bushes, and hit the isolated trees with soft plastics, rogue and/or spinnerbaits.

In the bayous, look for isolated wood and points of buttonwoods that stick out into turns.

In the lager bayous, you can catch an occasional kicker on the dead wood in the inside turns on a big crankbait. You just can't count on a whole lot of bites.

Watch for schoolies in the large bayous where a smaller one pours in. They won't be jumping out of the water. You'll just see a boil from time to time.

Go to Shad lake. Hit the bayou on the end of Shad. Fish slow

Isn't it a giant mung-pit by this time of year?

The bream didn't do so hot, we only caught 20, all from one bed. We used worms and crickets. The guy at the store where we put in told us we were late, about a month ago you could catch them anywhere you dropped a cork near the bank.

It's really shallow next to the banks right now, maybe 1 foot deep ten foot from the bank. Had a nice bass blow up on a ribbit early while dickin off and went to set the hook and smacked the roof of the barge with my skeet Reese. Didn't put a knock on it. For your tourney I'd suggest top water early around the island, but stay far away from the bank and make extra long casts. Maybe you'll surprise one or two good ones.
