I really don't do that anymore.

At all?
I am no fan of fishing slow, but sometimes it is what the fish demand. I do absolutely refuse to drop shot.

On sale right now at a good discount. Looked at getting one of their X-Ray inshore blanks today but haven't pulled the trigger yet

They're almost always on some kind of sale. If you need a blank, by all means get it, but I've never seen a scenario where they're full price.

Also realize, each blank will have a $10 excise tax added to it and shipping from them is $35 until you hit their shipping threshold.

What blank(s) are you looking at?

Yeah that's probably going to make it in my next nfc order. I fish shallow rivers for small bass and keep all.my rods around 6'9".

Based on the deflection picture provided by NFC, I'm almost 100% certain that blank is based on a hot-shot blank. Basically it'll have a crazy soft tip that transitions into a much more powerful backbone. Should be great for what you describe.

If you're not fishing around cover much, the xray sb683 is a sweet blank. I built one as a pseudo-BFS blank and it has not disappointed. It's more parabolic in its bend, but it will absolutely launch a 1/8oz jighead and plastic. Based on my CCS data, it's rates out as L to ML with mod-fast action. It's a blast to fish with and can throw very small hardbaits down to 1/10oz without any issue.

Local store had the older Halo cranking series on sale. It felt as good for this as anything else they had and cheaper with the reduction. Will probably get to use it Saturday.

Square Bills I have a SB rod made out of a seeker mix composite graphite & fiberglass.

Then I found a few blanks made by Calstar that I made into crank bait rods which area great for DD22's.

If you're a norman fan make sure to check out lurenet.com frequently. They're also doing awesome sales and custom painted Norman lures in their "paint shop" for sale

Had to bring the Merc in this morning for the trim bolt recall. I also showed them my loose trim and turns out I waited too long to report it

As far as glass rods go, I've heard good things about them. Which model did you get?

HFX 7' medium. It has Lee Livesay's name on it. There's a "II" version now, so these were like 30% off.

I put a brand new Curado K on it this morning with some 10LB mono. Looking forward to the weekend.

If you end up deciding you don't like glass, I've found that inshore "popping" rods make great small to medium crankbait rods. Popping blanks are almost always mod fast or slower and catered towards specks so they aren't too powerful

I used all star popping rods for years as my crankbait rods. They worked great.

If I did not find this rod, I was going to break out my Shimano coastal rod that I figured would mage a good light cranker.

I have a 7’4 MH Team KVD composite crank bait rod and I hated it so much I took the reel off of it and it’s been sitting bare for 5 years.

Switched back to using a 15yo MH Mojo Bass

Fast tip, medium heavy 7’2” graphite. I prefer enigma rods as they have great action and you can get them two for one at certain points in the year.

Great warranty but only hiccup is they have low stock at many points of the year
