Not offhand, but I have only had shorthairs around 12 years, my knowledge of others around is limited besides those that run in the woodcock circles.

Sounds like we need wick to train em then we buy em.

Hell no, one litter was enough. My wife was approached at work by a friend this week that runs labs in field trials. He has a buddy with a pregnant lab that needs a home for the birthing and to take care of the pups till 7 weeks. I was quick to say hell no to $2500...

This may be the only way the wife lets me get another one. Puppys are not easy.

Not a GSP, but love this video of a woodcock hunt. LINK

My buddy with a GSP had to beat the hell of of him for three years before he hunted. This was AFTER dog college.

have you ever had your own birds in a pen before wickowick? i'm considering doing it pretty soon here.

yes.. never again - at least not till chessie is gone..

chessie gets inside pen when bored...fetches live bird prances around back yard with it.. neighbors see try to go get bird.. dog won't give it to them if you know chessies you understand... she bolts.. neighbors leave gate open -

chessie goes around neighborhood proudly with live bird in mouth.. GSP at her heel(GSP taking live or dead bird from Chessies mouth could be fatal).. not for bird...

original neighbor calls animal control.... i end up not getting in trouble BECAUSE my neighbor trespassed and LET MY DOGS out....but still a pain in the A$$... and it happened THREE TIMES.... but it was funny when neighbors cat was object in chessies mouth....

I used to take a push pole and attach a landing net and go under interstate overpasses at night and net pigeons

I need to do this. I need to start upping our training with some live/dead birds. Could you get into some shite if caught?

pigeons are not protected.... but el ratones muy grande also abound under interstate.. beware...
