It’s a 20 year old boat. Completely redone a little at a time, I’m the only owner its whole life. New everything.
Found a small patch on gel coat that I can feel the flakes. If I polish and polish every day, that spot, will it eventually seal it back up?

Sand it lightly with 800 grit and spray a good automotive clear over it. Blend the clear out and buff. It won't last forever, but will give you a few more years.

Gel coat is just colored resin. As said you can get a gel coat patch kit and fix it. Fixing it is easy, making it look good is a different story.

ETA: if you can feel ‘flakes’ that sounds like it’s very thin gel coat and you are feeling the fiberglass? As said you can wet sand gel coat or buff it with compound and that may fix your issue also.

My boat is 6 years old and has several stress cracks in the gel coat

I just ignore and hope it doesn’t fall apart or sink

white or colored gel coat? White is a pretty simple fix and can sometimes be done well enough that it is hardly noticeable or not noticeable at all. If its a color its a different story BUT wet sanding and PROPERLY polishing , buffing will usually do the trick without adding any new resin. The flakes are problematic though...if it is actually fiberglass cloth that means there probably aint enough resin to polish and buff...if it is metal flakes the same may be true, you may polish past the flakes and it will be noticeable. That being said the spot is apparently noticeable now...you noticed it...so polishing and buffing PROPERLY won't make it worse most likely...and may make the rest of the hull look so good the bad spot may become invisible nearly. I know some old boys in south florida who can work miracles with a harbor freight grainder and polishing wheel, some rubbing compound and a 12 pack....

I have been told by several people that finish glass that stress cracks are often caused by curing too fast in high temps or high temps and high humidity and are usually completely harmless if there was good resin penetration in the lay-up. I don't think gel-coat is ever structural but I may be wrong.

It’s the glitter part just below the top cap. Not the underside of the boat.
One small spot I guess the sun faded into the glitter.
I started waxing it every day now to see if it will build up a coating. I don’t want it to spread further down the side of the boat
