Deciding between The Current river or The Eleven Point river for a 2-3 day canoe and camp. Has anyone experienced these rivers? Any route/fishing suggestions or advice appreciated. TIA.

Missouri? GTFO Wheez. This place is for southern good ole boys only. I can tell you about the Red if you want to "experience" a big boy river

The Current River is fantastic. Cold, though, because it's spring-fed, so not the best for swimming. No experience with the other river.

For comparison my mother's family used to drive from north Mississippi to Missouri just to canoe on the Current.

I once did a drift scuba dive with my cousin on the Current River. The amount of fish in that river is amazing. Underwater you see about four times as many fish as you will by looking down into the river. You will also notice that every single root wad and I do mean every single one is covered with snagged fish hooks and lures.

If you want a hotel room on the Current River then the place to stay is The Lodge at Van Buren. The owner is a guy named Tommy Bedell who is originally from Eunice. He can also hook you up with the best campground if that is what you are interested in. He owns it too.

If you are interested then I can hook you up with my cousin. He has fished and boated on almost every river in the Ozark National Scenic Waterways. He also has a place on the Current River at Van Buren. No promises here, but he might be willing to swap out some hunting and fishing with you.

I don't think we will be needing the hotel, but thank you for that insight. However, I would be very interested in hearing the advice your cousin may have for us. Perhaps he would know the perfect river for what we are trying to do and see.
