4 months old will be fine. May not taste quite as good as freshly frozen duck breast. I use 12 month old duck breast in gumbo. You can't tell the difference. Nobody at our camp wants the meat, they just want to shoot. Except for the last couple years, when we haven't killed many, I always end up with enough breast that it takes me nearly all year to eat.

My bad, I meant December 2016, they are 16 months old. Would you still use in a gumbo?

your fish are fine. thaw, fillet, and eat but as said they may not be as good as they could be but they will not be inedible bad at all. That said def do not do that again...freezing them whole is fine but at least gut and gill them first.

16 months old is pretty old. I might throw them in a gumbo and just see if they had a freezer burnt taste. I wouldn't cook them if I had company coming over. I would just toss the gumbo if it tasted bad. Biggest loss would be the time it took to cook it. I may not be the best to give advice though, I eat leftovers for about 8 days and things out of my freezer that I probably shouldn't...

How are you packaging your game? I vacuum seal everything and anything under 2 years is very fresh tasting. Very little degradation in taste or texture.

Not properly. Thrown in a freezer bag for duck breast and saran wrap in freezer bag for backstrap. Vaccuum sealing does greatly increase the usable life. I don't normally have stuff that long. Deer meet goes about 6 months at most and couple times duck breast have gone over a year.

You can freeze milk. If, for example, milk had 5 days before recommended expiration and you freeze it; when you thaw it out it has that many days left from the time you thaw it.

I buy whole frozen pompano from the Asian market..... guts and all. I thaw them out, gut them, and either filet them or cook them whole. Never had an issue, those fish will be fine, just not as good as fresh.

My dad's family had a small dairy back in the 70's. He told me that and when we were first married and on WIC, we had to stretch every penny, so did that. They would give us two gallons.
