I had to sell most of my guns due to finacial reasons but my favorite that I used to have was a Taurus Raging Bull 44mag with 6 1/2" ported barrel. The first time I fired it, I was shocked at how little recoil it had.

(Sorry no pics. I'm posting from my phone.)

First gun I ever bought was a Glock 22 (40 cal.) It is the smoothest firing, fool-proof gun I have ever had.

Second favorite is my Taurus Judge, you can't beat firing 410 buckshot from a revolver! Fun to shoot.

(sorry, no pics, posting at work and psych hospitals frown upon searching the net for pictures of guns!)

Favorite probably my grandfather's Remington Model 11 20 gauge shotgun. My grandmother bought it for him on there first wedding anniversery 70 or 80 years ago.

My "latest" favorite pistol is this Ruger LCP 380. I have had a lot of fun shooting it. So has my son.

Does this have some recoil? Reason I ask, looking to get the wife something and this seems like a great size pistol for her. Also, is the ammo hard to find/cheap?

If she knows nothing about firearms then get her a wheel gun. If it doesn't go bang all she has to do is pull the trigger again.

Clearing a jammed semi-auto is not your friend when you should be making bad guys go away.

I am finding it pretty regular these days...not so much at the wal-marts or Academys put at local shops.

Its not cheap...Practice Ammo(50 Rounds) will run you 18-26 dollars depending on type you buy. Defense Ammo will run 29-35 (20 Rounds) depending on the brand you like. Or at least that is how I have seen it in my area.

Got my wife a hammerless Ultralite Taurus 38 special. It doesnt snag when pulling it out of the purse and it is very light. And as woodcrafter stated you can keep pulling the trigger w/o jams.

I don't find it has a lot of recoil. My 13 year old who is intimidated by my full size Glock will shoot the LCP all day. Ammo seems to be pretty plentiful and about $20 a box.

Like the other guys said, not a good gun for a novice female. Bought the wife a Kahr cw9 a while back, so I learned the hard way. The compact pistols usually have stiff springs making the action a bear to operate. After about 100 rounds, she's ready to throw it away. This doesn't sound like a problem for self defense, but clearing jams becomes difficult. Bought her this, (I love snubbies)

Not my picture, my photo skills suck. My new favorite, STI Trojan in 9mm. I like it so much Im looking at a commander size 1911 in 9mm to replace my Glock 19.

My favorite changes often, but I'll try......it's like trying to choose your favorite child.

Browning BPR 30-06. It's got personality and is one straight shooting bitch. Leupold vxII makes it work right.

Remington 870 sps. I have shotguns much nicer and much more expensive and they all live in the safe. This pig have seen more mud and blood then anything I own.

Again, I like guns with personality.

This one is growing on me. In her first year she spoke three times at 200 yds+ and she was heard all three times. Xbolt medallion 300ws. The Zeiss glass make me love her even more.

But the all time favorite is my Remington 700 in 270 win. She is getting a new thumbhole laminate stock this year and complete custom makeover next.

Traded for it, one 1911 for another. Traded a sweet Kimber Classic Gold Match for it. Just always wanted a 1911 in 9mm and I think its one of those guns Ill keep forever.

My current fav riffle I own is a Blaser R93- I have both a 7mm08 and a 270WSM barrel set up for the gun.

I like shooting my Colt AR15 the best-- love when the barrel smokes
