Fast and Furious Salmon fishing

Easily the hottest salmon fishing I’ve ever been a part of.
3 man limit in the Pacific Ocean out of the Ilwaco, WA marina.
We ended up with 2 Chinook and 4 Coho salmon. We were trying to get a 3rd Chinook but could not get our lines past the Coho.
They were absolutely crushing our baits. We couldn’t hardly get our lines connected to the downrigger before…..Fish on! We were essentially top water fishing for Coho at times. You could see them swiping at the baits as we furiously tried to get our lines down.
We finally gave up and kept a 4th Coho after releasing/losing dozens of fish.
I like to take video on my Go Pro’s but gave up because I couldn’t take my eyes off the rods. I got some action but my memories will have to do.
We are fishing the weekend so if things continue anywhere close to this we will have a nice haul of beautiful red meat.

Nice fish.
I watch the Brooks Falls bear camera. The amount of salmon this year is incredible. Seems to be a very good year.

We were catching large coho and they’re still going to fatten up. Bodes well for fishing the small rivers in Oct/Nov when they show up.
