Been riding most of the day. Came back to no power.
Cooking a chicken and sausage gumbo outside. Adding shrimp at the end so they don't go bad.
Wild Turkey 101... Neat
Guess it's time to service the generator.

Leg quarters on the grill now
Wife made deviled eggs after we pocked
Dirty rice
And a Michelob Ultra that’s been in my fridge for god knows how long.

Same here, minus the shrimp. But I did add cornbread which is frowned on for some reason.

Not by me. Cornbread is fine with any meal.
What I'm not quite understanding at the moment is I cooked my roux for an hour damned near to coffee colored and my gumbo is paler than a blonde roux.
Oh well. As long as it tastes good.

I’ve cooked roux for an hour before trying to get it dark. Today I cooked it on medium heat for 20 minutes and it was getting so dark I thought it was going to scorch if I went any longer. Never had that happen before and do not know why it darkened so fast.

Kitchen Bouquet is your friend and will fix the color of the roux.
