I am assuming 5 man * 6 duck limit = 30 pack

Full limits Sat and Sun in Pecan Island Grand Chenier area, all teal. 12 limits total.

We hunted just south of Saline. Had a great opening morning, but didn’t see 1/10th of the ducks on Sunday.
Not sure what happened, but Saline sounded like a war zone from day break until 11 am. Anyone hunt the lake? Would love to know what was being shot. Did see some big groups of high flying divers coming from the South that could have contributed.
Anyways any Saline reports?

Which Saline? Dewey Wills area Saline? Had a buddy tear it up on Shad lake off Saline on youth weekend with mallards and sprigs. Granted they may have been in the private part of Shad.
I only ask because I think there is a saline lake up near Ringold but that is probably in the West zone, not entirely sure.

You gave a 2nd hand report on public land duck hunting Your buddy would not be happy

Nah. Whats wrong with giving reports? Plus they were in a blind on Shad so it was private anyway. but the majority of that is public. So what.

I will admit 30 pack sounds funny. I keep noticing more and more duck hunting videos on YouTube with rap music edited over it. Nothing wrong with rap or anything, but something about Boosie and songs about cocaine layered over decoying ducks just gives me a chuckle. to each their own.

We had excellent weather both days, and it was even better the second day. That system that moved across south LA stayed south of us, so if anything it should have been better. We were also out of the blind on Saturday morning with 2 limits by 7:15, and shot barely over half a box. We also hunted a different blind in the same area.
So, O great duck hunter, enlighten me on what you think happened?

I’m talking about the actual big lake.
We used to hunt Shad back about 15 years ago, and grew up hunting the North end of the delta and Catahoula. Miss those days. They was gooooooood.

Well based on my experience such a drastic 180 does not typically occur, after one hunt, on opening weekend. We aren’t talking about late season ducks. These ducks are not that smart yet.
Also, see above where there was not that much boom boom on Saturday.
I know you have no first hand knowledge of anything about where we hunted or the hunt we had. So no way you could actually comment, but you did.

Ahh I can't speak for the northern one. Supposedly people are doing good on the red river and north of there near Bisteneau but who knows. Man Catahoula in the 90/2000s was unbelievable, then again the entire state basically was.
ETA: A buddy up near Shreveport says that "people say Bisteneau is good every year and it isn't" so I guess take that with a grain of salt.
