Looking to buy a couple of Racor PFF50216s...one to change out on my 2001 and one to have on the shelf ready for the next change. I threw a P0087 code yesterday (Fuel Rail/System Pressure too Low) and I want to start with the easiest thing to change.

TIA.

Yeah I already had issues with the plastic WIX..I prefer to stay with the Racor rather than the Delco...I can find the Delco locally.

Thanks.

Racor Coalescer Fuel Filter

This is the latest and greatest high efficiency, long life, "depth coalescing media" fuel filter by Racor. This is the EXACT same filter sold by GM dealerships (pn# 12633243)

Amazon Racor

Same filters...pay the price you want Racor or GM.

you wont get the GM(Racor)filter cheap locally though

Yeah, I had seen the ones on Amazon...I guess no brick and mortar vendor has them? Not that I have anything against Amazon, I just figured they were so popular and recommended that there was a local store.

Sold mine a couple years back, but I used to get the racors from Performance Truck Products.

If anywhere near Houma, give Fleet Supply a call.

You'd have better luck shopping one of the big rig stores I'd think. Or napa. Napa has all kinds of good commercial shite

Napa sells that Napa gold plastic shite. I put one in my truck the other day. How bad are these things? I’m thinking about replacing it already and I put it in less than a week ago.

I'd stay away from any plastic fuel filters. Wix used to be metal but then they went plastic..they can warp at the seal point. I avoid Wix like the plague.

I had to have the fuel filter housing (w/primer bulb) replaced as I got some bad diesel at a MAPCO that had rust and the rust particles contaminated some of the O-rings...shop showed me the issues...O-rings had micro fractures/splits keeping them from sealing. Shop used the Racor filters...but he's kinda proud of them...so I was looking for somewhere else to get them (locally or from a vendor in La).

you can buy the filter head rebuild kits and save some money by not replacing the whole filter head

none of the filters are cheap locally...online is your best bet if you aren't in a bind time wise

Yeah. I know that now....but when my truck went down...I needed it fixed and I didn't have time to dilly dally around so I let a reputable diesel mechanic fix it for a couple hundred dollars. Plus I found a mechanic I could trust in the effort. But hopefully I won't be messing with that any more as I'm looking at getting a new truck in about 6 months or so.
