Anybody been doing any scouting in the area for this weekend? I haven't built any blinds are anything yet and plan to do so on Friday. Read an article that said they had a number of birds down and that the youth hunts were a success. I hope this is still true

I fished mud lake about 2 weeks ago and saw a few birds. Probably 30 grays some bws and a surprising flock of mallards. I had friends that absolutely destroyed ducks in the lost lake area.

Actually, no it's not. Have you ever been to Lake Bouef on an opening morning? I am going to video some of it this year and post here. It's absolutely unfrickingbelievable!!!

Opening morning doesnt equate to the whole season. Im not saying that there arent any ducks im just saying that there are always a shite ton of coots. Dont get so defensive.

I'm not defensive. I am just letting you know my opinion. I have been hunting both lakes all my life. Theriot is awesome and there is very little pressure now that it is private. We would always kill our limit of pouledeaus in both lakes.
Lake Bouef has become a pain in the arse to hunt because there are so many people that hunt it during the season.

I dont mean to jump into yalls convo here as my first post ever on this site, but I just wanted to put my two cents in on the lake with the most pouldeau per area I've ever seen.....Spanish Lake up in south baton rouge. I hunted Manchac for the longest time and I thought it used to have the most pouldeau ever, but then i hunted spanish lake (which has been drained since summer 2010)and you couldnt drive through it cuz it had so many.

I thought i recognized the name.....nobody else i know really bothers with the green-footed bozo bird. Plus, they smell like a$$ after they sit on the floorboard of the boat. Cuz we all know they're target practice on opening day before the real ducks start flyin. You hunt in dularge?
