Looking to get a UTV and these popped up in my search. I don't know much about them and looking for a little guidance.

Made in Roseland, LA by American Sportworks. Seem to be pretty decent. Their website had a lot of good info on it last time I looked at it.

Yeah I have looked there but I was looking for a non biased opinion on handling, power etc.

Decent for the price. No bells or whistles. Subaru engines. Don't expect a smooth ride, or to keep up with a name brand SxS in the mud. Will do well to get you to and from a stand, or around the farm.

ETA: we have one like in that picture here at work, and it's only for the light duty getting around. Everything else we run are Kubotas.

My PIL has an older one. (Used to be called a Brister/chuck wagon) but same company.
Rough ride, loud, slow, gets stuck in the mud really easy. I preferred my golf cart

Well that makes it an easy no thank you for the input.

Looks similar to a chuck wagon that my aunt has. That thing rides like a wagon with wood wheels lol.

Brister is a go kart manufacturer, which is why that rides like one. There are several "aftermarket" UTV's that are pretty good. There are also a few out of China that aren't bad either. I actually helped R and D some of these a few years back. The ones out of China that are manufactured by a company called Hisun are about as good as it gets without saying Yamaha on the side of it. None of them will have Hisun labels because they aren't marketed under that name but if you look around the engine compartment for the EPA approval sticker it'll either list Hisun or Yamoto as the manufacturer. Those are built by a company that does OEM work for Yamaha and some of the parts will interchange. Tractor Supply and Cabelas sell one of these rebranded as something else but they'll look very similar to the Rhino.

If you're going to put it under serious use in water and mud stick with an OEM ike the Rhino by Yamaha or Prowler by Arctic Cat. The Kaw Mule is time tested and also a good machine. The Ranger and RZR by Polaris are total POS and the Honda is too bulky.

Hope this helps.

We have several at work.

If you going to ride them on hard ground grass they will be fine. A few of ours have Honda engines and a few have Subarus. If you not going to raw dog it in the mud get one.

I'm curious why you say that. I am in the market and the Polaris Ranger quickly rose to the top of my list.

Almost everyone I know has a Ranger. A few people have the Masimo for just around the house use and one has a Can Am.

They all swear by the Ranger for the price range

Like I said I was in the business for 12 years. I had a dealer tell me once when we were talking about the Jap makes vs American makes. He took me over to two tool boxes. He opened a drawer on the box of his Honda mechanic and said see how all these tools are shiny and look new? He opened the drawer on the one of his Polaris mechanic and said see, all his tools are worn out from over use. It took me a minute to figure out what he was saying.

In my experience as a user and from my time as an R and D person, the Polaris units had a weak point in the way the driveline ventilates itself. It's not vented well enough. When a CVT tranny gets water in it guess what happens? You sit there until it dries out. They may have fixed this as I got out of the business about 5 years ago but it was a huge problem then. For prospective buyers, there will be a vent tube coming off of the right side of the engine. If it's not snorkled up to at least seat level height keep looking.

As far as Can AM (Bombardier is the manufacturer), they are pretty good machines. However, you'd have to be a jet mechanic to work on one of them and coming from Canada and their exchange rates, the parts are high as a camel's arse.

You have some valid points, but let me add some more. If it took you a while to figure out the tool analogy, you're not as smart as you think you are, lol. Second, your Polaris opinion is long outdated. The only complaint I have about Polaris is the axles. The new axles are complete garbage. And Artic Cat? Never seen an Artic cat that wasn't a complete turd. And I've seen a bunch of Artic cats that we're complete turds.

It took me a while to get it because I had driven 15 hrs thru the night to see him so I was a bit tired. As for AC, I've personally owned 4 Cat's and have never had any serious issue with any of them. Their first ATV, the 454 had serious carb problems because they wouldn't listen to Suzuki's engineers about the jetting. Up until just a few years ago, AC used Suzuki engines but now use in house engines on their 400cc+ machines and a company named Kymco out of Taiwan builds their smaller stuff.

BTW, a company named AEON out of Taiwan builds all of Polaris' 350cc and under machines.
