Are they effective? Expensive?

Yes they do. $1400.00 for my house and I didn't consider it expensive.

I tried the plastic ones from Lowe's. Sucked. Had the guy who installed the gutters put in some black expanded metal ones....best thing I've done. Hated cleaning them, and have no issues now.

I have some black expanded metal ones as well. They work great. Just make sure they don't bow upward during install and trap crap at the edge of the roof.

They do work mostly. Guy was out yesterday for 2nd time to clear the downspout from 2nd story on Mom's house.
Wrens had built nest out of mainly moss and 1st pair of guys just washed the nest down the spout partially where it lodged and clogged the downspout. Had to remove part of the metal tube to clean it out and then replace it.
It's under warranty and this was rear corner so not messing anything up was reason waited for the more experienced guys to get it. 1st crew was new hires came for annual Spring clean out. (makes sense businesswise to have experienced guys installing while newbies learn the basics cleaning).
TLDR: Get extended warranty and let the installers do maintenance.

They work very well, there will be zero leaves in the gutter, instead they pile up on the screens.

Yes. Get the leaf blaster pro.
It’ll keep the your shingle granules from getting into your gutter as well

Bump.
Cleaned leaves out of gutters this afternoon. It's ridiculous how fast they fill and what a mess it makes.
Does anyone have any other recommendations or are Leaf Blaster Pro the best to get had?
Thanks in advance for any product recommendations or advice on products to stay away from.
