Thanks all for some great feedback. So many 7mm 08 recommendations really have me interested.
Thankfully in my house, we all are 30.06 people, makes it easier when everyone shoots the same shells.

I've literally never failed to drop a deer with a .243 and that includes 100 and 300 yard shots.
Both dropped where they stood. If you can't drop a whitetail with a .243, quit.

243 is a great caliber but 7mm08 has a shite ton of bullets and weights to choose from. 110gr all the way to 195gr. Might as well get the gun that can also put down elk better too.
