The most important thing I’ve learned from owning deer hunting land is to create access around the perimeter. You will really need to tread lightly and hunt at only opportune times.
With 200 acres, I’m not sure it’d be worth paying a professional consultant. At the end of the day, you’re at the mercy of your neighbors.
Hunt it a year or 2 and try to find natural areas/trails deer want to use. Find specific trees or specific spots you want to hunt from to target those areas, keeping access to/from in mind. Start manipulating habitat adjacent to those locations to enhance them. You can get guidance on how to do that manipulation from free sources and hire that work out as needed.

That is a fine looking piece of property there. You can do a lot on that acreage. Native grasses, controlled burns, sanctuaries. Please don’t plant pines. There are enough planted pines in the world

I think the biggest thing that helped our place is being comfortable burning it. We’d rotate every three years and burn about 100 acres each time.
100 acres of natural browse is better and cheaper than planting summer plots

Yep, he owns about 1/5 of a square mile which means he will be told that he should be shooting 30 does a year.
