They will definitely be spawning with the coming full moon this week. They are catching fish from with reports I’ve seen.

quote:

Crappie (or "sac-a-lait") in Louisiana generally spawn from February through April, with activity starting in South Louisiana as early as February and North Louisiana in April. Spawning is triggered by water temperatures hitting 60–65°F, often aligning with the blooming of dogwood trees and peaking around full moons

Darbonne only has white perch; they don't have crappie.

Hahahahaha. No doubt you will get some funny looks calling them crappie in that neck of the woods

The minimum boat value is $100k to refer to White Perch as “crappie!”

They were on the banks and were being caught in 1-3 ft around trees/grass before that big front last Monday, it probably pushed them back a little but they should be ready this week with it warming back up.

I have a buddy who lives on the lake and fishes for them nearly every morning.

Dat Louisiana Life just posted a video of a trip to D’arbonne. They caught some white perch on yo-yos with shiners.

Nice, thanks. I’m gonna check it out. If you like that channel, search God’s Country Hunting and Fishing on Youtube. Bradley and his wife are the two most awesome people on Youtube. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve learned from watching that channel. Bradley gives out nuggets of info that few others would ever share. He explains everything so well I think I could probably go successfully run some hoop nets right now, which is something I knew nothing about. I don’t personally know them or anything but they seem good as gold and are very entertaining

Yo-yo fishing is odd to me. You can catch white perch at night on yo-yos in January in 2 feet of water when the water temp is in the 40s but you won’t catch a fish there on a pole til mid march when the water temp is in the 60s I guess they roam shallow at night or something because the majority of them caught in January or February are still in the channels at 35 feet deep Never made sense to me

But we were up there bass fishing the first week of march and a guy was doing well on the shallow cypress trees which had me questioning why the hell we were bass fishing and not doing that

The water temp was 67 degrees that day so I would imagine the first wave has definitely spawned

Most the Darbonne perch fishermen I know are very tight lipped when they start spawning. If they tell you a report, you are already a week late
