We have a fishing trip to the Cocodrie area planned in July, never fished there before, need some tips on areas to fish. I don't want any ones honey hole locations just general areas where we can catch a few reds or trout to eat while we are there.

June
o June is in the middle of the best fishing period of the year: May through August. This also is the best time of the year to catch big trout. In June, anglers should start looking for slicks, oily-looking splotches on the water’s surface that are produced by regurgitation as schools of predator fish feed. Finding slicks is important to finding trout on into September.
o Fishing tactics are very similar to those used in May. If you want a box of fish, use plastics. If you want bigger fish, now is the time to use live croakers or pogies. Croakers may be purchased, but anglers must use cast nets to catch their own pogies. Croaker and pogie fishing means anchoring and using Carolina rigs or free-lining. Free-lining at the rocks is especially effective because you lose less tackle.
o Topwater action starts in June and lasts into September.
• July and August
o Fishing during these two months is identical to June, except that trout concentrate on the beaches and structures more than on interior islands.

Yes, we rented a camp about 6 mile north of Robinson Canal. Will be there from 10-14 July.
