Lit up a Gurkha Cellar Reserve 18-Year tonight. Many would say this deer needed another year, but I think it’s perfect. By far the best cigar I’ve ever smoked.

quote:

Blended by Gurkha's famed Kaizad Hansotia, the Cellar Reserve 18-year blend has a Corojo wrapper and long-filler from the Dominican Republic that's aged for 18-years.

Fantastic smoke. Mild/Medium but with great depth of flavor. I might get a box of these.

The FDA says the occasional cigar won’t give you cancer

But I’m happy to move the thread elsewhere: I tried the food and drink board and no one responded

I think you’ve found the right place, rsbd must be having a bad night

Add a speckled trout limit should be 15”
Or
That deer needed another year
Or
Any topic about coastal conservation

And this will set a response record

Anyways, looks like a good smoke

I'm a petite julietta type of guy, I just can't bring myself to burn 12 bucks.

But even I must admit I find the idea of a cigar filled with tobacco grown when i was in hugh school is interesting

That’s how I describe my preferences. Thanks for sharing

I’m stuck on Padron 1964 exclusivos in a natural wrapper and since I only smoke 6-8 cigars a year I don’t have to worry about the cost. I’ve tried 1926 but prefer the 64

I have (3) Padron 80th Anniversary Perfecto Maduro In the box for 3 years, have not found an occasion worthy. Jan 13, and a W for LSU will meet the criteria.

I am a Padron or AF Maduro guy i pair it with Coors Banquet.

Can’t think of a better reason.

I have an H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez
Belicoso Box Press in my travel case for the LSU game today. My travel case holds a cigar and a shot of whiskey. I have a shot of Pappy 20 yr in it for today.

I’m hoping I’m opening this case in celebration and not to ease the pain around 6:30. But either way I get a shot and a good smoke.

hunh?

H. Uppman's are habanos, what you have and may or may not know is a Dominican knock off made by AJ Fernandez.

May be a great smoke but you will just have to find out.

FYI H. Upmann's are usually dirt cheap compared to the big 5 Habanos.

Yeah I know I have the Dominican knock-offs.

The yellow label is a consistent moderately enjoyable mild smoke. It’s bland but it’s not terrible. A buddy of mine gave me a box of them, so I’ll smoke them when I might not have time to finish and won’t be angry to toss half a cigar.

quote:

The blenders behind numerous successful Montecristo, Romeo, and H. Upmann releases, ‘Groupo de Maestros’ may not be a household name but you’ve likely had a cigar that’s a result of their work. Today, they turn their eye to revitalizing the mellow-bodied cigar, attempting to offer up a cigar that’ll deliver all the flavor a contemporary cigar lover wants, without making it a full-bodied, Nicaraguan powerhouse. And luckily, they hit it out of the park. Crafted in the Dominican Republic, H. Upmann Connecticut features a gorgeously smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. The only thing smoother than this wrapper leaf? The flavor (and that transition, if I do say so myself). Loads of sweet cream hit the palate, with the slightest hints of pepper and a roasted, nutty core.

The blue AJ label I had wasn’t bad. More Medium and a bit more full bodied and flavorful than the yellows:

quote:

AJ Fernandez puts a modern spin on a world famous brand, with his H.Upmann by AJ Fernandez Belicoso Box Press cigar. Showcasing the finest Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, surrounded by a seamless Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, AJ uses his special touch to deliver mouthwatering flavors dark roast coffee, hazelnut, cedar, and subtle hints of spice. This is a medium to full body blend.

I have a weakness for H. Upmann Petit Coronas almost as large as JFK did, the half coronas are a fine little smoke as well.

Have never tried the Imperial Tobacco (Altadis) Dominican version of either though but am certianly not above it.

I’ve never had the actual Cuban versions

The Dominicans aren’t bad but nothing to seek out or write home about

Next time you make an international connection hit up a duty free shop, a box of 25 half coronas usually runs around 80-100 bucks, the petit coronas run around 150 a box of 25, neither are what I would consider really expensive compared to their cousins.

Problem is I also have a weakness for Silgo V's and they are a bit more dear.

Padron Delicias Natural Robusto

Part of the Padron Series line, the Padron Delicias Natural is a medium-bodied, Nicaraguan puro that features rich notes of cedar, coffee, almonds and pepper.

I am partial to smooth partagas.

Any others like that? Smooth and light with a Cameroon wrap?
