Mervis Saltzman made a Chien Caille video on how to blow his speck call. I had one on vhs way back when. Does anyone have a copy or preferably a digital copy they are willing to share? Looked on line and couldn’t find it. Maybe a link to an online version. Thanks.

I have the CD/DVD somewhere @ home, may take a bit to put my hands on it.

Never saw a video. All I remember was getting a mandatory lesson when you bought it from him. Wouldn't let you leave until you could blow it decent. Still got mine(s)!

I got the same lesson about 30 years ago. Never forget it. In his little workshop behind his house.

$20 Chien Caille sounds much better than a $150 Riceland if you have the balls to work it.

Of course, you can't get the Chien Caille for 20 bucks anymore....Can you even still get 'em new?

Same here. I was about 15. He would not let me walk out until I double clucked on command without issue.

my dad brought myself and two older brothers to Mervis' place appx 25 yrs ago to get some calls. We walked in and he and his son Kendall are sipping beers from a kegarator in his shop IIRC . same story - he gave us all a lesson before we left, and we blew my old mans ears off all the way home. When my dad went to pay, he realized he left his wallet at home. He gave them some of his specialty rice bags as a placeholder until he mailed them a check. Apparently they were courteous enough to accept it, as two Gueydan rice farmers who dont need no milled rice no! We also bought the vhs of their blowing calls and setting up rag spreads (again, IIRC). would love to see an online recording of that, that should be in some folk archive somewhere. Now, Mervis' grandson is my CPA! lifes great

That awesome. I’d love a copy. Do you think we can manage it somehow. I’m trying to get it for my son and nephew

Absolutely, send an email to Richj225@bellsouth.net
I can either email, or if you are available in the central to northern part of Louisiana we can meet somewhere

Maybe you could post it on YouTube. That would be perfect and then send the link.
