I took the advice of the OB and went with a Remington 870. The guy at the gun shop also confirmed the decision by recommending it for a shotgun

quote:None yet, it will be a 9mm though...haven't decided on the brand. Loved the feel of the Sig Sauer but it was a bit out of my price range. I'm looking to keep it under 500 as I don't plan on using it much unless I have to (which is hopefully never)....other than practicing at the range

If money isn't an option, I would highly suggest the Sig Sauer. It conformed to my hand and felt so natural. If you are on a budget like me, I'll keep you posted as to what I go with. I'm going to the range next week to try a couple out

Definitely on a budget. I have been looking at ruger lc 9 and S&W mp shield

For just a few personal defense rounds I wouldn't worry on the price too much. The higher priced stores like Cabelas, Jims, and Bass Pro are only gonna be a few dollars higher than Walmart or Academy.
The best part about the 9mm is that ammo is very available and there is a huge selection. Use Youtube as a resource. There are thousands of reviews on 9mm SD ammo.

Have you shot the Sig?

golden saber 147grn. best ever in my experience. they may not load in super small consealed carry 9mms. usually they will tell you not to try to load 147 only up to 124. becuse feel lip or loading ramp or whatever forum you may be on....is not long enough or designed for the length of the bullet. in any glock 17,19 or 26 they are perfect and penetrate extremly well. many are concerned about overpenetration of 9mm in a household. This is a legitamate concern but I want to be able to shoot through my walls and couch and tv and so on incase some one takes cover. their cover wont matter.
