Vacationing with my family in Destin first week of October, would like to setup a fishing charter if possible with father and bro-in-law.

Any good 4 hour charter suggestions?

Blue Water Escape Charters

They are out of Ft. Walton, a quick drive from Destin. The captain, Charles Stone is a former Senior Master Sergeant in the AF. A great guy who retired and is doing something he loves, and it shows because he’s good at it!

I deckhanded for a few months in destin this summer for a private boat. But the one we always recommended was 100 proof charters. The boats on the harbor walk

I’ve been anywhere from 8-150 miles.

The 150 mile trip was to prove a point to my buddy that destin is not for tuna fishing the rigs.

Good god, what are y’all going for 150 miles offshore, if not tuna?

That was on his center console. I deckhanded on a 64 EB viking and we mostly brought big party crews of the owner to do bottom fishing. Most of that was about 30ish miles from destin buoy. But we’ve done all kinds of trolling on the edge and nipple and bottom fishing is good out there.

It just takes some time to learn the fishing out there and to run over enough bottom fishing spots to put together good trips

That’s what we were going for. My buddy who owns the boat has a hardon for yellowfin and wouldn’t accept that we should do fishing that destin is good at and hold off on the run to the rigs until A) we hear reports that tuna showed up and B) when we have the boat in Venice.

After 400 gals of fuel burned and five hours of running with 150gal bladder in 3-4s with the occasional 5 and we still didn’t have enough fuel to make it to blue water he got the picture.

I’ve got a boat in Venice, the farthest we have been is probably a floater called Mars, I think that’s probably 60 miles out of south pass, where do y’all usually go out of Venice for tuna?

Wherever the blue water is and where I’ve heard some reports. But generally I try to limit the trips to about 80-90 miles out. And even that is an extremely long trip. I think the 40-60 mile range is a good day trip range but a lot of times if we are going we are going overnight so the 80-90 mile run is easier justified

You run a something like a Bertram or Hatteras, or a center console?

335 Everglades in Venice and destin and occasionally get to go out fishing on the viking if I’m not a hand.

But by no means am I a captain. I am just a regular dude who likes to go offshore who knows just enough to get in trouble and be left in charge of “captaining” my buddies centerconsole. Plenty plenty plenty more qualified ppl than me like CP3
