I've done it out of a buddies boat from Biloxi several times but it has to be right to do it in his boat...a 21 foot skeeter bay boat. Boat could probably go about anytime but it can get a little uncomfortable. Gorgeous place. He always launches his boat at D'Iberville Marina. Its about a 30 mile run from there and to be honest just to go its worth it but the two islands in the mouth of the Bay are about as nice and the fishing is about the same.....and it can be unbelievably good. Absolute gorgeous either way. I hooked what would have pushed a world record pompano on one of the Mississppi islands once but got caught off on the trim tab like a damned idiot...it was a monster pomp. We also got into a GANG of permit off that same island one day. None of them monsters, 3-5 pounds, but they were thick as fleas and chowing...we lost count but we brought a bunch to the beach. At least 30 or so...almost every cast. Also have never seen so many triple tail in my life as there are in Biloxi Bay...and damned big ones. We have an excellent triple tail fishery off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina but, at least back in the early 2000s, it wasn't as good as Biloxi.

Mirrolure Lil John’s on a 1/8oz screw lock jig head has outfished every other lure thrown on my few trips out there. It cuts through the grass pretty well. If it’s overcast at all I’d throw a topwater to look for bigger fish.
I like to look for changes in depth or bottom features to find fish. They are going to hold to troughs and grass edges. Look for bait in the water as well.
When you inch into a spot make sure you drive out and away from the island before going up or down. Lots of sandbars closer to the island.
I’ve done it in my or my buddies skiff from Gulfport and Lafrance. I prefer Gulfport.

Just went this past weekend. Pretty good, caught about 60 trout (probably 100 12" trout), and 28 snapper and stuck 4 flounder. Water looked decent. Smoked them on top water from 7am-12pm on the first day, kick in the arse. The rest of the weekend the hot bait was Down South Lures Southern Shad White Ice, first time using these baits but I felt like every cast they would hit it. Caught a 24" and 22" as well

We fished it Monday and Tuesday. Monday morning winds were down and we caught a limit of specs mostly on Marker 54’s. Wind blew bad Tuesday and it was almost not fishable. Picked up a few Monday but spend most of the day drinking and playing poker. Great time and it’s really nice out there.

There a brief period last Friday where I go a bite on the Jerk in pink on basically every cast. Most fish I have ever caught on a shrimp lure in one day by far.
