ended up going to city park lake instead of university lake. i spent most of the time paddling around and only half assedly fished. I caught 2 stick fish and that was it. I plan on heading back tomorrow with the intent to try and catch something. any bait suggestions artificial or live?

People have been saying good things about the red shad worms as of late. My go to this summer has been the baby brush hogs in pretty much any color.

yeah, the red shad has been my go to since I can remember. But I often wonder if when i skunk it's because I don't explore other options often enough. I may bring a rod rigged with a float and crickets to see if I can get any bream if the bass aren't biting.

I never do this. I refuse to throw crankbaits, and spinner baits are mehh for me. I usually just throw brushog, worm, frog, or buzzbait.
