My son is shooting in the 4-H tournament this weekend in Shreveport & I was thinking about taking my camper up there for the weekend. Where are some good places to camp? State parks? Lake Bistineau?
Thanks!

There is a nice campground at Bodcau WMA called Tom Merrill campground. It's relatively close to Shreveport depending on where your son is shooting. It is also adjacent to the rifle range at the WMA.

He's actually shooting in Gramd Cane at the Long Range Alley Gun Club.
I'll most likely have my 2 daughters & wife with me as well so I'm someone looking for a place that's not too remote to camp.

Where is Cypress Lake located? Do you know anything about their hookups, facility, etc...?

Cypress is near Benton in Northern Bossier Parish, 1hr-ish or so from the long range alley.

It is nice up there.

Check out Heart of Haynesville RV Park... looks like a nice clean place that gets very good reviews and it is about 5-6 miles from where you are shooting.

Mansfield is just a few miles south of the RV park which would keep you out of the greater Shreveport area for any needs you have. I think they have a Walmart and food places.

Definately check this one out, like stated it is just up the road from the range. You can probably get a sweet deal with that O&G dependent area being dead.

Not far from Mansfield, or you are a quick drive up I-49 to Bert Kouns in Shreveport which is a main drag.

You have/know any info on Lake Bistineau state park?

Definitely going to look into Heart of Haynesville

In Bossier Parish, just north of Bossier City.

Bistineau is nice, too, as I recall. I've been to the one south of Sibley.

Is that Heart of Haynesville just a white-rock parking lot with shitter hook ups? If so, I'd drive and stay at either park in stead.

Don't know how much the Mexican Restaurant would enjoy a shooting. Shooting at Los Paloma is a blast though.
