Cannot remember wood duck. I DO remember dosgris were scaup, poule d'eau were coots means water chicken cuz of the beak and the feet.
I grew up calling mallards Canard Francais, french ducks.

My uncles used to say:" un canard. Teriez!!! Meaning: A duck! SHOOT!! " LOL.

don't really pronounce 'n' in above words

a la chase is hunting ( pronounce the 'a' like 'o' in rock)
