Looking for suggestions for an area to rent a cabin. Something with stocked ponds for young kids to fish. Like to stay with in 3-4 hours of Lafayette. TIA

Not sure when you're planning on going but they usually have a pretty long waiting list.

If you need something quicker you can definitely get one at Crooked Creek in Pine Prairie. 599-2661. Aren't AS nice as Chicot but we stayed in one last year.

Kids can catch bream off the dock.

They do let you request specific cabins. Here's some info should you opt for Crooked Creek.

Cabin #1………………Very close to boat dock

9,10, & 11…….closest to swimming area and lake.

#10 is THE closest. It's the one we stayed in. Also close to the big area that people camp in their campers if kids want to walk/visit. Would have to drive to boat dock to fish.

Why not just take the short drive down to Cypremort State Park?

Yea, you might want to look into Hodges Garden State Park.

There is a damn nice place in Lake Charles about...12yrs ago(lol). They had a stocked pond, and you could go on a guided salt water trip.

I know it as the Marsh Club, but not sure what it's actual name is. Very very nice cabins(watched MJ win a championship in one).

Went out there for a couple of hours this morning and picked up a few bream.

This is the South Landing @ Chicot. As you can see there are rental canoes. Not pictured and to the left are also some
jon boats that can be rented.

The boats and behind them is a little building that is a nice fish cleaning station. Has a processor so no need to haul fish heads, etc.

when I was a kid we would stay in the cabins in the Lake Fausse Point state park. Fishing was good and there are millions of gators out there.
