I buy at least one nice setup a year. 2013 was the .35 whelen, 2014 was the Bennelli Ethos and Colt AR, and last year was Browning A5.

I've decided to go rifle this year. Will be a deer gun primarily. I hunt KS and MS. The budget is $2,500 for gun/scope.

My other rifle set ups are:

TC Encore .35 whelen, Leupold 3.5x10x50
Ruger M-77 7mm, Leupold 3.5x10x50
Browning A-bolt, 25.06, Leupold 3x9x40
Remington 700, .308, Leupold 3.5x10x50
TC encore muzzleloader, open sights
Colt AR, Leupold

I was looking at the .300 or .300 wsm. Maybe a Zeiss.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Swarovski Z3 Rifle Scope 4-12x 50mm - $1000

Sako 85 Grey Wolf 300 WSM - $1500

If your budget is $2500, do not spend any less than $1000 on the glass. If you find a scope you really love, I would even spend up to $1500 on the scope.

Looks like you have deer hunting covered with the 7mm and .308...

Maybe have a custom built multipurpose tack driver in 6.5 Creedmore or 6.5 x 47 Lapua. You can use it for deer hunting and fun target shooting.

you can build a tack-driving custom rifle for $1500 using a Rem 700 action

then invest $1K on scope of choice

It may be awesome but you are going to pay a lot for the ammo. Also, it will be hard to find in your local sporting goods store most likely unless you have a good one.
I have a 7mm WSM and like it. Long range accuracy without the big bore punch. Ballistics are prime. However, same problem with finding ammo. Online ordering is usually the way to go.

I don't see a 30-06 and a couple of TC's in the collection, so I would suggest a TC Venture weather shield, I added one this year, probably one of the best shooting guns I have owned. I didn't have your budget, and like vortex scopes so I topped it with a Viper 3.5x10-50 - I did this out the door for a little less than half your budget.
