I remember reading and listening to people talk about this deer on podcast. I I remember correctly he would live in Louisiana through hunting season and the spot he had picked out was a restricted area with no hunting. Smart dude. Them Sip boys got him though. Wonder if him being on the Mississippi side at this time was unusual for him.

You got it backwards. He spent fall and early winter in the Sip. Swam to Louisiana when the water came up. He had to do that or go east of hwy 61 to get to the hills. He lived in farm country until crops were harvested.
