I’m glad conservation organizations are having some input. Technology in the outdoors is getting out of hand.

hell rifle scopes should be gone too, back to iron sights...... while we are at it a rifle is an unfair advantage, lets go back to a fricking bow and arrow or sticks and stones.

Tech that leads to cleaner kills and less suffering for the animal is a good thing.

That technology that will lead to cleaner kills will also result in longer shots, leading to more bad shots.
The long range stuff is more for Western hunting where long range shooting has become a big deal. There’s a point where the effectiveness of long range shooting will lead to increased harvest. This will lead to shorter seasons and less tags.

There’s good and bad in all of it. Trail cams are a great management tool. It’ll keep some bucks from being shot, but will certainly help to get other bucks killed.

That is what I was trying to get at by saying pushing the envelope, The guy that uses iron sights and feels comfortable at 80 yards and then gets his first scope does not continue making only sub 80 yard shots so he starts taking longer shots until he finds his limit, etc,etc... so I do not think the high tech will result in less wounded or unethical shots. just those pushed a little further

Until this thread, I never even heard of a smart scope. That's how much of a noob I am.

Lots of long range rifle manufacturers at DSC, it the rage. Was talking to guide and he came out and said you watch those shows with guys dropping elk at 900 yards but you dont see all the misses.

Your argument is bunk. When the tech begins to do the work for you thereby removing the need for skill, it becomes unethical. Like hunting ducks/doves over spinners. I'm amazed a man would be proud to have a scope do the shooting for him. I would not, but then again I'm a good shot with a rifle and shotgun, pretty good on a recurve and decent at throwing rocks.

I’m happy for you baw. Illegality aside, would you look down on me for keeping a few slabs out of a hoop net? Or shooting a few ducks over a corn hole?

i think you should be throwing stones at those ducks, because using a scattergun is cheating.
