You are getting good advice here and I had all these problems, one thing I can add is instal a water fuel separating filter, easy to instal and cheap, like $15 , they take a canister filter you can replace or simply dump the water out. Fuel lines can get corded from the inside from ethanol in the fuel and clog up your whole system if they are the older type lines.
Like someone said start with the cheap stuff first.
Good luck

I would have opened a small engine repair shop/sports bar and serviced the crumbling fuel lines while you quenched your thirst on a frosty beverage served by some busty skank in cutoffs and ripped up tee shirt.

Cracker. I buy only non-ethanol gas and add Sea Foam treatment to it. Boat runs like a champ. I also try to run the motor for a few minutes every weekend. And also, when the boat is stored, I take the transom saver of and trim the motor til it is vertical.

Wound up bringing the boat in to the shop. Mechanic said the fuel lines were bad. He said he found liner from the lines in the fuel filter tank. Had all the lines changed and should be ready to go!

I think you hit it. Ethanol causes fuel lines to break down and that causes problems. If at all possible, buy on ethanol-free gas and many problems are prevented. I just changed the lines on my boat(had same issues you raised) and everything is now good. Previous owner ran that ethanol trash on a regular basis. Louisiana Sportsman website lists alcohol free gas stations. Use them and the hell with the price.
