family member has a 2003 19ft Cape Horn Center Console they are selling.

Has a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke with maybe 400 hours on it and a Magic Tilt trailer.

What should I offer them for it?

Those are great boats. I would offer $7K and see what they say. That 140 zuke is a good motor too.

Excellent boats. They’re such great boats that my younger brother bought a 24’ out of Lake Charles a couple weeks ago even tho we bought a new 35’ Contender last year. It’ll be a great boat to have when we just run a dozen miles offshore or fish around the island

ETA: for a 19’ with the motor it has I’d start low. Maybe $6-7K. I’d imagine he wants to get and could get at the very least $10K. What’s the listed price he has?

Suzuki before 2008 had some corrosion issues, just inspect and be safe.

The engine and trailer (depending on condition) could be worth 7k so depending on hull condition and how savvy your family member is, they may counter with 10kish but worse they can tell you is no.

Appreciate the feedback.

I was thinking $8k.

He was wanting to list it for $14k but I told him he’d never get that.

Go $7500.

2003 is 16 years old.

Good boat. But I would think $7500 is reasonable. Depending on the condition I'd be happy to get that if it we're mine.

He could actually probably get 10kish if engine is in good condition and everything works. Maybe more if he's patient.

If you offered me 8k for that and I was "thinking of selling", I'd probably list it and try to get 10-12 for it before accepting.

Depending on condition of boat, boat and trailer w/o motor 4500.. you are always taking a chance with a used motor, may last ten years may last ten days. GL

I’d offer 7500/8000

in figuring out the price, consider you have a decent chance of having to replace the engine in the next two years.

$7500-$8 would be a really good deal. I can almost guarantee you he’d be able to find someone to pay $10-11,500. If the engine hasn’t had past problems and is in good working condition then it will be a steal for you to get it $7500ish.

I cannot stress enough how great Cape Horns are. There are a lot of charter captains in S. Florida on the gulf and Atlantic side that run these Cape Horns for smaller party charters. They are getting harder to come by since they are no longer made.

Give us an update on if he accepts the offer or not. Good luck
