1 do it in cold weather
2 if you have soffit vents don't plug them with insulation.

Need to figure out how the rodents are getting in and address

If there are over hanging trees. Holes in fascia/ soffit need to all be addressed.

Get rid of close trees and limbs.

Some people put cages around all roof accessories to keep rodents out but best to get rid of the trees and bushes.

I dont think you realize how many people have rat crap in their attic. Probably 99% of the world, saving maybe alaska.
