Price of guides is pegged to the cost of boats, gas and miller lite.

We caught well yesterday morning.

Fished up Kelso to under the draw bridge to the west. Nice keeper black drum, solid slot red, and probably threw back 15-20 small fish.

Not bad.

I agree. On the toughness, I grew up here, have lived away for last 15 years and come down as much as we can. The fishing just gets tougher and tougher. Used to could almost go anywhere and catch some trout. Now you legitimately have to work for them.

Thanksgiving day- 2 years ago was the only actual limit of trout I've caught in Big Lake in probably a decade or more. And we got into a school of them almost at the old ice house.

Best trip I ever had was 08-09 cross reef in west cove. Hot as Africa, no wind, 43 trout that were 2#-3# all on plastic. Used to leave my office on lake in the fall, head home (ham Reid rd) hook up to my tunnel hull and have a limit before dark every afternoon at 210.
It just doesn’t happen anymore like that.
