Best Thermal or IR Scope

I know alot of people like ATN but reading reviews it seems they have had some problems. I see the IR kits on Facebook that mount to the scopes for like 150$
Anyone have any input in this? I know thermal is the way to go and more expensive. I would spend up to 1500 on something reliable but if the IR will do the job im open to that as well.

Thermal is king.
I have a Sightmark Wraith that I like, however.
I don't hunt hogs enough to justify the thermal.

I’ve bought the cheaper atn thor academy carries. Don’t waste your money.
Returned it twice. Wouldn’t turn on after about two weeks of use. You’ll probably have to get into a pulsar in the 2k range to get some reliability

That's what I've been reading about ATNs

Best will be those that in-house the microbolometers and controllers or have very close ties with companies than make them. FLIR, Trijicon, and not many others as in-house electro-optics is incredibly expensive. I can't see anything in the $1500 price range unless some baw's pissed off wife is fire-selling his stuff...

I have a pulsar trail xp38lrf thermal but paid more than 1500. I dont miss a thing with this.
Atn makes a budget thermal. I haven't personally used any others than pulsar extensively y
But guys who have hunted with me had an atn thermal and couldn't see pigs that I was seeing and when they did it wasn't nearly as clear. AMG makes a decent one for about 2700
I tried nightvision with the wrath but didn't like it.

I bought some cheap >2k thermal from ATM and it was not really that good. More like a gimmick. Now I have a Pulsar XP-50 and it’s awesome. Pulsar makes another not sure the model # but it was around 3.5k and it is decent. My friend had it. But mine blows it away.
Keep in mind too. The video you see from these scopes loses some clarity when downloaded off the scope. My videos look good but looking through the scope is much crisper than the videos.

Its priceless. I'm having way too much fun with this. I'm overrun with pigs.

Yea man. I am not necessarily overrun but I've got quite a bit. Killed 13 this year and got probably 12 or so left to get

Gofcha. You are about 4 hours from me. Reds on reds on reds has a thermal like me. If you ever want to mow them down I'm sure we can make a run up there.

Hell yea man. I plan on feeding all spring and summer so that should pull some more in

I’ve used several over the last 5-6 years, ATN, Flir, Pulsar, Sightmark. Right now the Trijicon REAP-IR is definitely the best on the market but for the 60mm you are looking at north of $10k. If you are only looking to spend $1500 get a high end night vision, any thermal you find for $1500 is gonna be junk

Save a little more and bump up your budget if you want thermal.

I've found the combination of a good thermal monocular and a digital night vision scope to be pretty effective with the hogs.
I use the thermal monocular to scan and stalk and then a night vision scope with IR to shoot. The monocular is incredibly effective for scanning and easy on the arms and eyes for extended hunts when compared to scanning with an optic mounted on a gun all night.
This setup can be done for under $2k.
