I've got a $300 voucher good for lodging, group camps, day use, etc. at any state park, historic site, or preservation area. I'm new to Louisiana so I'm not familiar with the park system. What is your favorite and why?

What you looking for? Saltwater or freshwater fishing? Cabin or hauling a camper?

Poverty Point cabins are nice. Lake and golf course on site

Fountainbleau if with kids. Cabins over the water, splash pad, beach area, tons of area to bike or walk.
Lake Fausse Point is a fav to just chill.
But depends on your needs kids, fishing, rest. North La parks are quite good, too.

a. get a cabin. they're great, usually a short distance away from the camping area which keeps you away from the noise and drunks and a-holes at night.
b. fountainbleu is physically great, lots of trails to walk or bike on, good roads through it, beach access. but it attracts a lot of trash, can get crowded in the camping area, and seeing blue police lights at night is common. I stopped going there other than short trips during the day to walk or ride bikes. it has typically had a warden/ranger whatever who is a hard-arse about every little thing, but needs to be to keep the garbage people under control.
c. I've enjoyed lake claiborne state park, cabins are right at the lake, can launch kayaks right there and catch fish. pretty, pretty area.

Bogue Chitto State Park
Nice hiking/biking trails, 7 or 8 ponds to fish in, can float the bogue chitto, beaches along river to hang at, campsites spaced out in bottomlands section

Chicot State Park. Cabins are impressive & most are over the water. Good fishing, canoeing/kayaking, 22 miles of trails, right outside of the smoked meat capital of the world; drive about 7-10 miles & fill up your ice chest with the best sausage, Tasso, & boudin on the planet.

Lake fausse point or Chicot can be pretty damn primitive. Which I love.

Looking for something with bike paths since we ride a lot or hiking trails. I'd be interested in fishing - I haven't fished here yet! And definitely a cabin reservation.

There's no kids involved. Yeah, I've seen Fountainbleau while riding bikes and it looked nice so I had it in mind. Mainly just wanting a cabin to stay in and bike and hiking trails. Swimming (if possible). Thanks for the suggestions!

Well if you are in St Tammany, it’s an interesting piece of trivia that Fontainebleau State Park was named after Fontainebleau Forest in France. Doesn’t really have anything to do with a “fountain.”
Welcome

Bogue Chitto would be my vote.
