Pics are appropriate if you want us to find you a good set. Jk, how much you looking to spend? You want to buy a whole set or just a set of irons?

You can get a whole set, that is decent
for around 400 bucks.

Academy has the Clevelnad TA7s and the Callaway X-18r for around that price. Both stes are outstanding for the money.

Well, as someone who has golfed seriously for 10 years, I will tell you to get a used set of an older model of name brand club. If you go to Walmart and get the cheapest set they have, your old man is going to suck arse and give up on golf. To be honest, its going to be hard to go under 400 and get a whole set and a bag. Your best bet is to find an older set of taylormades or Cleveland's on eBay. I would spend 300 on better irons, 100 on a good driver, and let him buy a putter, wedge and bag of his choice.

Those are for iron sets though. She wants a whole set. I found some on eBay, I'll post you a link when I get back to my office.

I built my set. Bought each club individually, other than my iron set.

Thread hijack:

I'm selling my irons.

I think the handicap question is quite important. Obviously if he is 20+ you dont want to go buy mizuno blades. Nike has come out with a set that is bladed in the wedges and gets more cavity back as they go into the longer irons. Cavity back much easier to hit.
I started with
- Hand me down from the 80s
- Bought used Taylormade RACs with driver - good intermediate clubs for $350
- Bought new Mizuno Mp-57 - Paid a grand. Dont buy anything in this range unless he is 7 handicap or better.

A good set of used Taylormade irons go a long way. Fairly forgiving but still able to work the ball. Usually you can find them from guys who have to buy a new set every year and get them in good shape for atleast 50% of original price.

Im assuming if she is buying this guy a whole set of new clubs, he doesnt even have a handicap. Yeah, a set of super game improvement irons, such as Taylormade cgb max would be ideal, but shes wanting to go cheap. I would get him a driver with plenty of loft, 10.5*.
