I'm fighting a colony now. So far I've used gasoline, wasp spray, dawn and water, and I've tried covering/sealing the hole. None have worked.
Then go Chemical. Buy some Bifen and Suspend SC. Bifen will kill on contact, and Suspend SC will continue to kill them as more com into contact with it( but it takes a few hours to kill wasps).

Once you kill that, you will have bug spray to treat your house, and yard as well.

Bucket of water and malathion. Just dump it in the nest, we never did it at night or anything like that. They would all be dead. Sometimes you have a mound of them at the entrance.

I wouldnt do anything with gas or dish detergent, they make chemicals for killing the things.

If you are going to light a match be careful with gas it can get real bad real quick.

Diesel is my preferred method, find the nest, dump diesel in at night in something that pours quick they are slower but can still get you at night. Then light the diesel and no more problem.
