$150-200. But why? I would try to find a deal like I did. They are the simplest guns to work on and can teach you a lot about the basics of all firearms(I am not saying that you are dumb etc). Place an add for an old and beat up one, it will be cheaper and easier to find.

There are hundreds of YouTube videos explaining everything. Thats how I learned. Take a look at a few of them and then decide if this is something you would want to try. If not, I am not even sure how many 10/22s are to be found in stores.

No I definitely want to try my hand at it. Hopefully I can locate one like you said.

I know that the guy called me within 12 hours of my posting on LAsportsman. I would try there first. If not, there are websites that sell just the receiver too. They are usually pretty expensive but it is an option. They are fun and addicting to built. Plus they are a lot cheaper than say an AR or long range bolt gun. I have the top of the line and everything customized for around $600 in mine. KIDD actually has some pretty useful install videos on their website too.

there are tons stock options for the Ruger 10/22.

One big factor: what are you going to use it for?

Hunting, plinking, tack-driving?

I wanted a tack-driver so I went with a Boyd's stock on my build. I glass and pillar bedded it.

I also have a factory carbine stock and a Hogue overmolded stock that I can use if I am in the woods.

Beware the Ruger addiction. It is fun, but can become expensive quickly. I took a $200 rifle and ended up with a $1,000 rifle by the end...

Sorry for the delay, just got home from work, but still not by a computer. I'll find you several links in a bit but Google KIDD 10/22. They are a premier company when it comes to the 10/22. Expensive but worth it. I'll post some other cheaper recievers in a bit.

KIDD receivers

I would have loved to get one of these but I didnt think about it until I had already purchased a receiver.

Not sure of the quality but more.

I have heard good things about these.

There are literally dozens of them, just like ARs. I like the feel and quality of the KIDD products though.
