I typed a simple question into Google regarding pond management and subsequently spent the next 3 hours going down the AI rabbit hole. I asked every question I could possibly think of related to my 35 acre pond and fishing it. In about 15 minutes, it gave me information and insights that it took me 30 years of fishing it to understand. I am in utter amazement at its accuracy. I don’t see how it was able to make some of the specific predictions it made. Based on my experience, every recommendation was dead on for where, when, and how to successfully fish it. Has anyone tried asking AI about their local lake or river? Seems like you could break down a body of water awfully quick with it.

Nah. I have boundaries. I use AI for some things at work but I hate it.

AI is great at aggregating large volumes of disparate data, making connections and drawing conclusions. Using it as a jumping off point for fishing tips and techniques on a body of water seems right up its alley, especially on well known, heavily reported lakes, rivers, and estuary systems. It will struggle with adapting to real time data but it can easily interpret long term trends.

It may also be adept at making analogous conclusions on less reported scenarios, but I would expect those to be lower in return value.

I've been wanting to download my own Claude to my local PC and simply feed it every research paper regarding fishery management and pond management from TAMU, Clemson, UGA, Miss ST, Florida, etc. From there, I'd expand into any really good articles from GON and other fishing magazines on everything from fly fishing tiny high elevation trout streams to creek fishing to deep sea fishing. Then use it as my own personal chatbot. Basically, decades of science and expertise at my fingertips, but without all the conflicting sloppy bullshite that AI pulls from the internet at large.

I got the idea when my kid's friend's dad told me about an app he's developing to teach kids math. He was explaining to me how he built it. It's pretty simple with AI. His app is almost ready to launch, he's currently having trouble with the AI creating coherent word problems.

Happy to say I’ve not even sniffed the technology. And fishing info would never be my first attempt. Get on the water and use ur senses and become one w the environment, that’s true intelligence.

As said earlier, compiling organizing and analyzing data is what it excells at.

I get that. It really didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know, except it explained the reasons for everything. The fact that it was so accurate with the minimal info I provided was impressive

Slow down with the tech talk! I’m still trying to master this innovation!
