Was it MLF that used to have two anglers in a boat battling from front deck and back deck, with a red boundary line in the cockpit?

The 2 pound rule has made the MLF tournaments a better view.
Only problem is people will not see that on TV until NEXT YEAR

No, that was UMF (ultimate Match Fishing) with Joe Thomas and Fish Fishburne.

If they setup the events similar to in the past were you can see all the tackle companies, newest equipment, and newest boats like the past classics the show pretty nice for a free event.

I'll be there.
My kids are stoked.
Shimano pulled out of the expo because of corona virus.

I enjoyed MLF when they gave the pro's 18ft Nitro's and sent them to a random lake. Even with less talent now, I enjoy watching the Elites more.

Bingo. A few of them dropped on a random lake that they’d never fished and had to figure out was awesome.

Now that it’s on bigger bodies of water and cumulative weight you have overwhelming favorites for a given lake who can start fast then coast. Counting every fish has removed the homerun from the game and guys are playing small ball while occasionally hitting a double. In a best 5 one bite can almost always flip the board. Really wish they would open it up to a weigh and release top 5.

The MLF guys are ineligible to fish the Classic ?

That seems shitty

The Classic should be the Super Bowl of Bass Fishing.

Again, they still do this. It is the cup events.

The BPT is where they get to practice on a known body of water.

Upping the limit to 2 lbs has changed they way they fish for sure and I believe it is better this way.

They can fish it if they qualify. Many tried qualifying through the opens.

I’m well aware, and enjoy watching that if I catch it on, but it’s a completely different animal from a big-field live tournament. I expected to like the BPT events as much as the cups, but they just aren’t compelling.

The fact that they fish in groups for cup events is stupid.

I agree with you on that point. It is fascinating to me to watch guys of that caliber get thrown out there and have to figure it out all the while knowing how everyone is progressing. Cant imagine the pressure they face in some of those tournaments.

That part I at least understand. Gotta limit the number of boats at a time if you’re gonna be able to fish these random smaller lakes, otherwise you have the same problem as the BPT where 2 guys out of 60 grew up there and know exactly where to go yank two lbers all day even if they didn’t know that’s where they were headed.

The 2# minimum first few events of BPT has really helped with the little fish haters. They've caught Hawgs this year and Fork will be no different. Its always been about following the legends of the sport for me. I have no desire to watch someone I don't know fish. While BASS made these guys legends they also shite in their mess kit and made it real easy for them to leave. I mean NO Entry Fee and fishing more tournaments for more money was a no brainer for the Stars invited.

Yeah, I don't blame those guys for leaving but that has zero bearing on which format I enjoy more. I enjoy BASS because of the home run fish. That simple

You can say what you want about the format, but MLF was outstanding when they came to Eufaula. Our kids were able to go to 6 different events at Churches and local Marinas/bait shops.

The day off between groups made it real easy for them to do things like that while they can't fish.

I know this doesn't mean much to the type of fishing that everyone loves to watch. But the kids were estatic and got some quality 1 on 1 time, with just about whoever they wanted.

We'll see what happens when the BASS elites come in a month but I doubt there will be nearly as much going on besides show up at weigh in and leave.

Nope a new 500K event called Heavy Hitters has changed the game as well as 2# minimum. Top 30 culminative big fish from first five events gets you in Heavy Hitters. No Entry 500K up for grabs. Check it out.

I have a feeling it’ll progress to that for a different brand of select events.
