Bass fishing the Chef

Anybody got in on this action? Seems like in the past few years the Chef area has picked up for bass. Can somebody give a saltwater guy some help? Got 3 boys who love to fish neighborhood ponds for bass. Have been on me to take them bass fishing in the boat. Went this am and caught 3 on a frog. Is this the right time of year? Any certain areas more productive? Thanks.

Try the southside of Lake Catherine. Try fishing spinner bait with off colored grub or avocado colored plastic on it with gold blade.

They bite on shrimp underneath a cork or matrix shad too. I've been catching them in Delacroix. That's about the extent of my bass fishing.

Go back in the marsh a bit anywhere around there. Look for the standard structure like channels, grass lines, drop offs, points, deep bends....
Throw beetle spins, ribbon tail worms, buzz baits (as well as anything you like)
I find the bass tend to like the marsh and will feed in the ponds on high tide and will sit on the drains of the ponds in deeper water when it falls.
Also I would suggest throwing a small gold spoon and doa shrimp under popping cork you will increase your overall catch rate since there will be bass, reds, specks, flounder, etc.. all in the same area.

Another thing that works great back in the ponds is to catch finger mullet, then nose hook them and toss them out weightless and just reel them in slowly.
