There are states without background checks?

Not for private sales. Everyone has background check for FFL sales/transfers.

Nope. Tards

Private sales do not require a background check in some states. All sales through a dealer have to have a background check (this includes pawn shops, not just gun stores). This is more "think of the children" bullshite.

After totaling the number of shootings, the authors looked closer at where they happened and determined that there were fewer incidents in states that had mandatory background checks for gun and ammo purchases.
Of course there is no link for this claim.

Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research, who was not involved in the study. He found it interesting but would add that, based on previous research, the No. 1 factor in shootings is gun ownership.
Again no link for this claim. But I would argue the number 1 factor in car wrecks is cars.

That's kind of like saying the #1 factor is gun violence is gun possession. Duh, you have to have one to shoot someone.
Not sure what they are tying to say about background checks for transfers. I do know Connecticut has background checks for all private sales and that's where Sandy Hook took place. Same for Colorado and they had the theater shooting. Those are the two big ones besides the night club shooting in Florida which has no private party transfer backgroud checks.

Most states do not require background checks for private sales. Making a nationwide scheme to background check every private transaction, every family heirloom, every "borrow/loan" situation of a weapon is a backdoor gun registration/confiscation scheme, period.
Put Ace down as a "No, thank you."

Daniel Webster has been a pro-gun-control researcher since the 1990s. He's one of a handful that's made his entire career pushing junk studies in order to get all manner of gun-control laws passed.
