.
I never really looked into the X-Sight II. I just watched videos of it on youtube. It seems to be ok at 100 yard in a field. Don't know how it would do in woods. Lucky for me I have a buddy who has one of those $3k scopes. I just use his when I need. Just hope I don't ever break the thing .

Kinda why I wouldnt rent one or try to borrow someones.

Yea thats what im thinking...100yard deer plot feeder setup it should be good to go. Glorified camcorder with a flashlight....but I should be able to get some pew pew pew pig flops recorded to make this thread worth it

One thing to note...I "think" what you see on youtube is a clearer pic than what you get through the viewfinder maybe?

Fooled with it a little last night. Really neat for the price I think. If it works as well as it does in my back yard (40yards) I'll be slaying some pigs! I'll work on some pics.

I've seen a video for some tips when using that sight. They seemed pretty good tips. Also I've heard using the stremlight illuminator is really really helpful.

The new style IR is supposed to be much better than the last one. Has 3 settings and as far as my back yard goes I'd see everything. I have a kill light 250hd on the way...it has a remote dimmer switch for smooth adjustment. I'm sure the other units are much better but for the price and the way I'll be hunting I have a really good feeling about it as long as it works as it should.

Finally got some pics off the SD card. They just had an update for the scope and maybe it doesn't play well with the app on iOS for now so I couldn't get pics like that. Then my Mac wouldn't read the SD card that was formatted on a work PC using a card reader. But when I tried with the card just in the Mac slot of picked them up.

Anyway there is a soccer ball at 38.1 yards (via sig kilo). If you ask me...for $500...there is going to be some dead arse pigs if they walk out in front of me

First pic is from iPhone. Just sofit lights on.

This is with just ambient light no IR light from torch.

This is with the stock IR on 1 of 3 intincities. Also not focused beam just wide spread.

In green...could have focused a little better on this one maybe.

And at full digit owl zoom of 14. You make make it go up to 30 I think in the new software version but I have hat turned off.

Looks like it has pretty good clarity. Plenty enough to distinguish between a calf and a hog if need be.

Can you get pics any further out?

Id be running around my neighborhood at night if I had one. Not mounted on the rifle of course.

I agree...and I think there are still kinks but from what I see on the Facebook page a lot of work has been done. They just released a update a few days ago and that's what I'm on. End of the day it's still a entry level cheep Chinese "computer" scope...but as long as they stand behind there warranty I think this guy will slay a lot of swine in a open area. I think in a wooded area the IR will reflect and blind you but I have no first hand experience.

You hear when FLIR plans to ship there new thermals?

Edit: I will say too it did lock up last night it seemed. I was trying to access the wifi BT GPS spot in the menu and it locked. Had to take out batteries. I had read a mention of if you have on gps and your inside it may get hung up looking for a satilite signal. Idk. Just wanted to put that out there. I expect some things like that...it's a computer

Someday shots. It comes with the sunshade that has a hole drilled in it to help during the day. The white pipe in the pond is 122 yards, the fence behind it is 133, in the Playhouse is 220. Corner of the fence by the flowers is 77yards. There are like 6 or 8 reticles and 7-8 colors. I thought I had a vid but didn't see it. Still learning lol.

No zoom (3x) and full zoom (14x)

Seems like a decent night scope for the price. Haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet?

No, nothing. I'm supposed to go pig hunt with it so I need to get to the range and sight it in. What I like too is you can make different profiles for different rounds/guns as well.

And honestly for a day scope it would be pretty nice to use on little 1-200 yard plots. It records in 1080p and you can set it to grab footage before and after the shot automatically.

Any of the rifle scopes. Isn't there a real small one that is lower on the cost scale but higher in the quality...new small sensor. Name escapes me atm. I know they have like 22 new things.

I thought they had had a new 12micron core in a bunch of them and that small one? Thought I saw around 1900 for that little one too. Unless that's just talk at this point.

I'll post some more pics and a vid later today. The street light out front was messing with it...maybe it like day time. When I put it on NV mode the picture a little washed out. Either way I could have shot something lol.

----------------------------------------------------

until the technology gets cheaper, it's pay to play homie

rule of thumb is if NV is less than $3k, it sucks, and if thermal is less than $4k, it sucks. Not 100% true as there are are a few notable exceptions, but it's a generality
----------------------------------------------------

Hey Carson have you checked out the pulsar xd50 thermal? It can be found for 3000-3500 and looks pretty good to me.
