You have to look at the energy in the fuel. Ethanol has about 2/3 the BTUs of gasoline. So if you mix 10% then you will have about 97% of the BTUs of straight gasoline. So if all other things are equal (and they never are) you would get about 3% less mileage using 10% ethanol vs straight gasoline.

But I have never seen a controlled comparison.
