Definitely a German thing. I’ve always wanted one. They are particularly popular among boar hunters. A centerfire for long distance and buckshot for close work.

welp.....that about does it!
my old man was tied up in Pat Taylor's Safari Club folks. His go to was always 300 mag......but he was an incredibly accurate shooter. Granted, he wasn't targeting elephants either.

I want a .458 win mag for absolutely no good reason. If I had one, I'd shoot a 80 pound doe with it.
