Drop the trans and oil pan, change it, put all back, correct?
Whats frustrating is that could easily be a gear driven pump and all that goes away, but gear driven pumps rattle and that is TOTALLY UN frickING ACCEPTABLE in 2025, even for a diesel engine. No rattles damnit.
It's frustrating as hell. We blame the EPA for what diesels are these days but there is equal blame to be placed on the NVH nazis. We pay a lot of extra money for a lot of extra complexity in the name of making a frickin pickup truck silent and not shaky.
