Anyone used a pasture weed wick for Johnson grass and Vasey grass?

I've got some bermuda hay fields that are getting overrun with vasey grass and johnson grass. Using a rope wick seems to be the way to go, but I was just looking to see if anyone has had some experience using these. Is it better to catch the early growth about a week after cutting? or wait until right before a hay cutting when the junk grass is tallest?

MSMA….f a rope wick.

Used to wipe grass both directions, this was down a row. Big Johnson grass over beans/cotton. Ropey dopes as we called them, suck.

Rhizome Johnson’s grass and stooled vasey is hard to kill regardless so I would do it the easy way. Might try sencor or lasso on the vasey.

Call your local cattlemen association. Our's had a grant to help with vasey. You could use the wicker for free and get discounted chemical.

Bail the johnson up before it flags in spring.

If you've got a field where you want only Bermuda to grow, get pastora. It'll clean out vasey and johnson @1.5 oz to the acre

Thanks for the recommendation! I haven't heard of that product. Looks like it would work, but ouch, $2400 @ 80 acres!

Does look like the hours will add up quickly, especially if multiple passes are needed.

Yeah they’re obsolete imo.
